The international community has been striving to provide inclusive and equitable educational opportunities for all through SDG4 (Quality Education). However, despite various development cooperation initiatives aimed at achieving SDG4, challenges and limitations persist in the field of basic education.
This forum, titled "SDG4 and Beyond: Development Cooperation in Basic Education and Its Limitations," will discuss the achievements and challenges of implementing SDG4 with a focus on basic education. Topics will include the role of digital technology and an examination of field-level outcomes and limitations through case studies of World Vision’s education projects. Additionally, through both designated and open discussions, participants will share diverse perspectives on the future direction of development cooperation in basic education.

We invite everyone interested in basic education, international education development cooperation, SDG4, and global education issues to participate.

국제사회는 SDG4(양질의 교육)를 통해 모든 사람에게 포용적이고 공평한 교육 기회를 제공하기 위해 노력해 왔습니다. 그러나 SDG4 달성을 위한 다양한 개발협력 사업이 진행되어 왔음에도 불구하고, 여전히 기초교육 분야에는 해결해야 할 과제와 한계가 존재합니다.
이번 포럼에서는 'SDG4 그리고 그 이후: 기초교육분야 개발협력과 한계'를 주제로, 기초교육 중심 SDG4 이행성과와 과제, 디지털 기술의 역할, 그리고 월드비전 교육사업 사례를 통해 살펴본 현장의 성과와 한계를 함께 논의합니다. 또한 지정토론과 자유토론을 통해 향후 기초교육 분야 개발협력이 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 다양한 시각을 공유할 예정입니다.

국제구호개발 NGO 월드비전(회장 조명환)이 서울대학교와 국제교육개발협력 분야 협력 강화를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

협약식은 9일 서울 영등포구 월드비전 본부에서 양 기관 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다. 이번 협약은 교육 취약 아동·청소년의 학습권 보장과 교육 형평성 제고를 위한 협력 기반을 구축하고자 마련됐다.

양 기관은 분쟁·재난·빈곤 등 복합적 위기에 놓인 아동과 청소년의 교육 접근성을 높이고, 학습 성과를 개선하는 ‘현장-연구 연계 모델’을 구축해 나갈 계획이다. 특히 월드비전의 글로벌 현장 네트워크와 서울대 글로벌교육협력전공의 연구 역량을 결합, 보다 실효성 있는 국제교육개발협력 파트너십을 마련할 방침이다.

양 기관은 ▲국제개발협력과 인도적지원 분야 교육 프로젝트 공동 발굴, 추진 ▲사업 성과 관리와 효과성 검증을 위한 공동 연구 ▲포럼과 세미나 개최를 통한 성과 확산, 정책 제언 ▲대학원생 대상 국제개발협력 연계 인턴십 운영 등 다양한 분야에서 협력을 확대해 나갈 예정이다.

또한 단기적 협력에 그치지 않고 국제교육개발협력 분야의 담론과 방향성을 선도하는 전략적 파트너십으로 발전시켜 나갈 방침이다.

서울대 유성상 교수는 “학문적 전문성, 연구 성과와 현장 기반 교육사업이 결합될 때 지속가능한 증거 기반의 교육개발협력이 가능하다”며 “이번 협력을 통해 학문과 실천을 연결하는 선도적 모델을 구축해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

월드비전 국제사업본부 김성호 본부장은 “이번 협약은 국제교육개발협력 분야에서 월드비전의 현장 실행력과 서울대의 전문성이 만나 더 큰 시너지를 낼 수 있는 의미 있는 출발”이라면서 “월드비전은 서울대와의 협력을 통해 취약한 아동과 청소년에게 보다 질 높은 교육 기회를 제공하고, 현장에서 실질적인 변화를 만드는 교육사업을 함께 추진해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
